MARSHMELLO

Wednesday, April 26th 2017

Enigmatic masked DJ/producer Marshmello makes groove-oriented, synth- and bass-heavy electronic dance music. In the spirit of other masked DJs like Deadmau5 and Daft Punk, Marshmello (whose real identity remains a mystery) appears wearing a full-head-covering marshmallow mask. Despite the anonymity, Marshmello's career blew up in 2015 when he began releasing tracks online, including remixes of Zedd's "Beautiful Now," Jack Ü's "Where Are U Now," and others. From there came shows at New York's Pier 94, Pomona, California's HARD Day of the Dead festival, and Miami Music Week. In 2016, Marshmello released a compilation of his previously released tracks, Joytime, which reached number one on a digital top electronic albums chart. Included on the album was the single "Keep It Mello," featuring rapper Omar LinX.

Yellow Claw

YELLOW CLAW

Sunday, April 23rd 2017

Taking the over-the-top attitude of stadium techno acts like Scooter, mixing it with the profanity-laced party style of Dada Life, then filtering it all through the cutting-edge dance styles of trap and neo-electro, Amsterdam trio Yellow Claw don't consider themselves a band or project but a "partyconcept." Formed in 2010 by DJs Jim Aasgier, MC Bizzey, and Nils, Yellow Claw made their name by hosting parties at the Jimmy Woo club in Amsterdam. Their vibrant, campy style spread in 2011 with weekly Yellow Claw parties launched in the cities of Leeuwarden and Breda, while downloads of productions and remixes spread the word online.

In 2013, they released their single "Shotgun" on the Spinnin' label, while two EPs, Amsterdam Trap Music and Amsterdam Twerk Music, launched their relationship with the Mad Decent imprint Jeffree's. Featuring a guest appearance from Waka Flocka Flame, Amsterdam Trap Music, Vol. 2 followed on the label in 2014 and coincided with the launch of the group's streetwear clothing line, Blood for Mercy.

A producer who went from anonymous uploads to collaborations with Dillon Francis within just a couple years, L.A.-based artist NGHTMRE was born Tyler Marenyi in Stamford, Connecticut and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. After getting a degree in finance from Elon University, Tyler decided to move to L.A. and take a chance on his love of making music. He hit in early 2015 with "Street," a track Skrillex played during his headlining set at the Ultra Music Festival. Mad Decent signed the producer that same year and gave "Street" an official release. He made his festival debut with a DJ set at EDC Las Vegas 2015, then 2016 saw Mad Decent release the NGHTMRE EP along with "Need You," his collaborative single with Dillon Francis.
